We would like to share our table showing the price trend for STD5% almonds, the most sought-after American almond product in Europe. This product, mainly used for processing, serves as a benchmark for other varieties of American almonds as well as those from other origins, especially Spain and Australia, thus setting the general market trend. We have also added a comparative graph with Spanish almonds.
The graph shows how prices reached their lowest point in August 2023, standing at $1.40/lb. Today, the value exceeds $3.04/lb, more than double the price recorded two years ago. This means that a container of STD5% almonds, which cost approximately £61,600 in 2023, is now worth £133,760. To add a more recent reference, in July 2025 there was a sharp temporary drop in the market, which lasted several weeks and brought the price of the container down to £99,000, before rebounding to current levels.
Despite the sharp increase in prices since 2023, harvests have been large, indicating that the rise is not due to a reduction in supply.
The upturn appears to be driven by a recovery in international demand, speculative market movements and the ability of supply to control prices, rather than by a structural change in production. This situation suggests that the market is in a phase of tension between supply and demand, where prices reflect expectations and commercial strategies rather than a real shortage of product.
